What an emotional idol week this was. Matt Giraud became the very first contestant to be awarded the ‘Judges Save’ which kept his idol dreams alive for another week. I must admit that he was probably one of my personal favorite after the Hollywood rounds but his song selections have hampered not only his chances of progressing further but also his popularity among the American voting public which is for me an important aspect of winning this competition.

I was a little surprised that he got the lowest number of votes this week cause although his performance was not great compared to last week but it wasn’t all that bad. In fact I think last week was his best performance since the Top 13. I’d bet the judges might not have used the ‘Save’ if it was Lil Rounds instead of Matt cause she is also going through an identity crisis as well. For me she sang the song well this week but half-way through I was quite bored to be honest.

Anyways next week should be extra interesting since 2 contestants will be leaving due to Matt’s save this week and more so when it is the ever dreaded DISCO week. Perhaps this time Lil Rounds might have her chance to shine with her powerful vocal and to a certain extend Anoop as well who loves uptempo songs.
