Our Antenatal Class Experience

  • Angie at Antenatal ClassWe went to the antenatal class last Saturday at HUKM (Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia) which was an entire day affair starting at 8.30am to 6pm. Our class started a little late as Tenaga was running some tests at the hospital and at that early in the day, the whole place was nearly pitch dark.

The course covered all the important aspects any parent to be should know and some of the first few subjects were more suitable to those couple’s early in the pregnancy stage. Nevertheless it was very insightful information. One particular subject was covered by an external company which is Stem Cell Preservation by CellSafe International Sdn. Bhd. (CIS). For those of you who are unfamiliar with stem cell preservation, I’d encourage you to visit their site for more info cause it sure was an eye opener for us that science has come such a long way to enable this so called ultimate health insurance.

Right after lunch, came a subject which we both fully support which is in favour for breast feeding as opposed to bottle feeding. The passionate speaker really put forth a lot of strong points. In fact at the end of the day, only sheer convenience is to why many parents choose bottle feeding which is sad. Don’t get us wrong, cause there are certain situations which prevents a mother from breast feeding but all mothers should try their darnest best to do so before choosing any alternatives. Of course us husbands can do our part and support and encourage her to do so.

    Antenatal Practical Class

At about 3pm came the practical session and all of us attendees had a blast watching a video and later practicing it as can be seen above. After a quick tea break, the husbands were then guided on how to safely massage our pregnant wifes and later the ladies were taught on various simple exercises especially for those couples who are quite close to the due date like us.

Finally all of us were taken for a guided tour of the facilities and shown where exactly we should go and what to do when rushing to the hospital for delivery. All in all it was money well spent for the day which costs only RM 150.00.
