F1 Malaysia 2009 Potong Steam Lar

  • I was really looking forward to this year’s F1 mainly due to the exciting new developments in the sport and drama that surrounds it. The turnout for this year from what I can see is still strong but I can’t say that I agree with the delayed start time as with many other people I’m sure. With Button from Brawn GP taking pole position, I was excited and looking forward to an entertaining race day. More so cause I am more of an underdog supporter.

True enough the race started with plenty of exciting overtakings and suddenly Rosberg found himself leading the pack with his superb start. A lot of drama was unfolding throughout the day mainly due to the teams trying to predict the Malaysian weather. This I must say added the excitement as many teams tried to outsmart each other and gambled especially Ferrari’s Raikonen.

The decision of the day went to Toyota of course when they decided to continue using the intermediate tires on Glock which paid off handsomely. Things started to get gloomy when officials decided to stop the race during lap 32 due to the pouring rain at about 6pm Malaysian time. At that time many of them were swiveling around the track in pools of water.

Again this incident brings to mind the recent massive flood in KL and I can’t help but to think they could have done better with the drainage at the Sepang circuit as well especially knowing full well the amount of rain we get here. Nevertheless when the race stewards decided to call it a day, I was slightly disappointed but thankfully the earlier 32 laps offered enough entertainment value.

The final race results for the top 3 positions are Button, Heidfeld and Glock. So congratulations to Brawn GP Team for their 2nd win in 2 races thus far. Here are some pictures taken when the race was stopped:

Anyways here’s looking forward to a good race in China in 2 weeks time!
